DU's centenary celebrations will start from May 1, 2022

VC Prof. Yogesh Singh gave information about the activities of the centenary year in the PC

New Delhi, March 03.

Delhi University is celebrating its centenary celebrations in the year 2022. This event will celebrate throughout the year and during this time many programs will be organized. DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh gave the details about the centenary celebrations in a press conference at VC office of DU. He informed that the centenary celebrations will be inaugurated on 01 May 2022 on the auspicious occasion of the foundation day of the university. He said that the centenary celebrations of the university is a historic event in itself. Such opportunities come after a long wait after a hundred years. It is a matter of pride for all the people associated with the University that we are getting the privilege of being a part of this historic event.

On this occasion Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh also released the centenary logo and tagline of the university. He said that the entries for the Centenary Logo and Tagline had been invited from the students of the University through open competitions in which the students gave tremendous response and as a result the very attractive centenary logo and tagline have emerged. The Vice Chancellor congratulated the creator of the Centenary Logo, Ms. Kratika Khinchi, a student of The Gargi College and also thanked all the students for their participation in the competition.

The Vice Chancellor informed that the centenary celebration shall begin in a befitting manner on 1st May, 2022, with the release of the University’s commemorative stamp and coin. Giving detailed information about the year-long activities during the centenary celebrations, he said that a Coffee Table Book has also been planned to be released and that the year-long activities include programmes not just for the stakeholders of the University, but the community at large. For instance, he informed, that there shall be adoption of a centenary village with achievable and tangible social welfare oriented goals, health awareness checkup and blood donation camps, among others. Plantation of simultaneous 100 trees at 100 locations across the University’s campuses has also been planned.

The year shall also see organization and creation of some documentaries on the University, its history through light and sound show, launch of DU Studio, Litfests, book melas, exhibition of rare books and manuscripts, organization of various seminars, conferences, workshops and lecture series on international level, signing of MoUs and international exchange programmes, Research & Development, innovative practices and other similar activities, he said. On the sports and extra-curricular fronts too, there are plans to have centenary cup, across various activities, and also the launch of Youth Festivals in the University.

During the press conference, the Vice Chancellor announced that on the auspicious occasion of the centenary year, as a bonanza for those, whose studies in the University have remained unfinished, as a centenary chance, such students shall be given an opportunity to finish their studies to obtain their degrees. He also informed that, for the first time, technical courses shall be started in the University. He informed about the starting of new courses of B.Tech. in CSE, EC and EE and of UG and PG courses in Management and Economics in Campus of Open Learning.

Besides these, centenary infrastructure creation has also been planned through new building for the Faculty of Technology and Academic and Administrative Blocks in the Institute of Eminence building. He informed that the centenary year shall also witness a construction of 2 new hostels, with 800-1000 bed capacity each, to cater to the exploding needs of outstation students of the University. Further, the Centenary Foundation Day shall also see felicitation of distinguished alumni, of the unsung heroes of the University and teaching and non-teaching serving as well as retired staff members, he said.

On this occasion, Dean of Colleges Prof. Balram Pani, DU Registrar Dr Vikas Gupta, DU PRO Anoop Lather, Centenary Celebration Committee Convener Prof. Neera Agnimitra, coordinator Dr. Deepti Taneja, Member Secretary Sh. Jay Chanda, including members of the Centenary Celebration Committee and conveners of the thematic committees, among others, were present.

एक मई से शुरू होगा डीयू का शताब्दी समारोह

वीसी प्रो. योगेश सिंह ने पत्रकार वार्ता में दी शताब्दी वर्ष की गतिविधियों की जानकारी

दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय वर्ष 2022 में अपना शताब्दी समारोह मना रहा है। यह समारोह साल भर चलेगा और इस दौरान अनेकों कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन किया जाएगा। विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति प्रो. योगेश सिंह ने पत्रकार वार्ता के दौरान इस संबंध में जानकारी देते हुए बताया कि शताब्दी समारोह का शुभारंभ 01 मई 2022 को विश्वविद्यालय के स्थापना दिवस के शुभ अवसर पर होगा। उन्होने कहा कि विश्वविद्यालय का शताब्दी समारोह अपने आप में ऐतिहासिक घटना है। ऐसे अवसर लंबे इंतजार के बाद सौ साल के पश्चात आते हैं। यह विश्वविद्यालय से जुड़े सभी लोगों के लिए गर्व की बात है कि हमें इस ऐतिहासिक घटना का हिस्सा बनने का सौभाग्य प्राप्त हो रहा है।

इस अवसर पर कुलपति प्रो. योगेश सिंह ने विश्वविद्यालय के शताब्दी लोगो और टैगलाइन का भी विमोचन किया। उन्होने बताया कि शताब्दी लोगो और टैगलाइन के लिए विश्वविद्यालय के विद्यार्थियों से ही खुली प्रतियोगिताओं के माध्यम से प्रविष्टियां आमंत्रित की गई थी जिनमें विद्यार्थियों ने जबरदस्त प्रतिक्रिया दी और उसके परिणामस्वरूप ये आकर्षक शताब्दी लोगो और टैगलाइन सामने आए हैं। कुलपति ने शताब्दी लोगो की रचनाकार, गार्गी कॉलेज की छात्रा, कृतिका खींची को इसके लिए बधाई दी और प्रतियोगिता में भागीदारी के लिए सभी विद्यार्थियों का धन्यवाद भी किया।

कुलपति प्रो. सिंह ने बताया कि एक मई 2022 को शताब्दी समारोह के शुभारंभ अवसर पर विश्वविद्यालय के स्मारक टिकट और सिक्के का विमोचन भी किया जाएगा। शताब्दी समारोह के दौरान साल भर चलने वाली गतिविधियों के बारे में विस्तार से जानकारी देते हुए उन्होने बताया कि शताब्दी वर्ष के दौरान डीयू की कॉफी टेबल बुक जारी करने की भी योजना बनाई गई है। शताब्दी समारोह के दौरान न केवल विश्वविद्यालय से जुड़े लोगों के लिए ही, बल्कि समुदाय के लिए भी बड़े पैमाने पर कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए जाएंगे। उन्होने कुछ कार्यक्रमों के उदाहरण देते हुए बताया कि इस दौरान सामाज कल्याण के उद्देश्य से एक शताब्दी गांव को गोद लेने सहित स्वास्थ्य जागरूकता जांच और रक्तदान शिविरों का आयोजन भी किया जाएगा। इसके अलावा विश्वविद्यालय परिसरों में 100 स्थानों पर एक साथ 100 पेड़ लगाने की भी योजना बनाई गई है।

कुलपति ने बताया कि शताब्दी वर्ष के दौरान विश्वविद्यालय पर कुछ डाक्यूमेंट्रियों का निर्माण भी किया जाएगा तथा डीयू के इतिहास पर लाइट एंड साउंड शो भी आयोजित होंगे। उन्होने बताया कि इस वर्ष के दौरान डीयू स्टूडियो भी लॉन्च किया जाएगा। इन सबके अतिरिक्त अनेकों उत्सव भी आयोजित होंगे जिनमें लिटफेस्ट, पुस्तक मेले, दुर्लभ पुस्तकों और पांडुलिपियों की प्रदर्शनी, विभिन्न सेमीनारों व सम्मेलनों का आयोजन तथा अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर की कार्यशालाओं और लेक्चर सीरीज का आयोजन भी होगा।

उन्होने बताया कि शताब्दी वर्ष के दौरान एमओयू हस्ताक्षर और इंटर्नेशनल एक्सचेंज प्रोग्रामों सहित रिसर्च एवं डेव्लपमेंट, इनोवेशन प्रेक्टिस आदि जैसी अनेकों गतिविधियों का आयोजन भी किया जाएगा। कुलपति ने बताया कि शैक्षणिक गतिविधियों के अलावा खेल और पाठ्येतर मोर्चों पर भी विभिन्न गतिविधियों की योजना बनाई जा रही है, जिनमें शताब्दी कप का आयोजन और विश्वविद्यालय में युवा उत्सवों के शुभारंभ की योजनाएं मुख्य रूप से शामिल हैं।

पत्रकार वार्ता के दौरान कुलपति ने घोषणा की कि शताब्दी वर्ष के शुभ अवसर पर विशेष योजना के तहत उन विद्यार्थियों को भी अपनी डिग्री की पढ़ाई पूरी करने का अवसर दिया जाएगा, जिनकी पढ़ाई किन्ही कारणों से विश्वविद्यालय में अधूरी रह गई थी। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि विश्वविद्यालय में पहली बार तकनीकी पाठ्यक्रम शुरू होंगे। सीएसई, ईसी और ईई में बीटेक के नए कोर्स शुरू करने के साथ ही कैम्पस ऑफ ओपन लर्निंग में मैनेजमेंट और इक्नोमिक्स में यूजी और पीजी पाठ्यक्रमभी शुरू किए जाएंगे।

इनके अलावा, इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ एमिनेंस बिल्डिंग में प्रौद्योगिकी संकाय और अकादमिक व प्रशासनिक ब्लॉक के लिए नए भवन के रूप में सेंटेनरी इनफ्रास्ट्रक्चर के निर्माण की भी योजना बनाई गई है। विश्वविद्यालय में दूर से पढ़ने आने वाले विद्यार्थियों के लिए आवासीय जरूरतों को पूरा करने हेतु 800-1000 बिस्तरों की क्षमता वाले 2 छात्रावासों का भी निर्माण किया जाएगा। इसके साथ ही उन्होने बताया कि शताब्दी स्थापना दिवस पर विश्वविद्यालय के गुमनाम नायकों और शिक्षण व गैर-शिक्षण सदस्यों के साथ-साथ सेवानिवृत्त कर्मचारियों तथा विख्यात पूर्व छात्रों को भी सम्मानित किया जाएगा।

इस अवसर पर उनके साथ डीन ऑफ कॉलेजेज प्रो. बलराम पानी, डीयू रजिस्ट्रार डॉ. विकास गुप्ता, डीयू पीआरओ अनूप लाठर, शताब्दी समारोह समिति की कनवीनर प्रो. नीरा अग्निमित्र, कोर्डिनेटर डॉ दीप्ति तनेजा, सदस्य सचिव जय चंद आदि सहित शताब्दी समारोह समिति के सदस्य और विषयागत समितियों के कनवीनरों सहित विश्वविद्यालय से जुड़े कई लोग उपस्थित थे।
